We are open during the current mandate. Our hours are limited as well as the treatment we can perform. We can treat urgent dental issues, just not routine care that can be postponed. We will be scheduling 1 patient at a time and disinfect the lobby area after each visit. Our protocol for surface disinfection has always been designed to eliminate HIV and Hepatitis viruses as well as tuberculosis spores.

If you have a question about any dental treatment, please call 858-879-6709.

The Benefits of Dental Crowns at Balboa Dental Care

Strong and Durable

At Balboa Dental Care, crowns are made of zirconium and lithium disilicate. These materials are remarkably strong (stronger than traditional porcelain). With proper care, your crown may last for up to 10 years.

Natural Appearance

The zirconium and lithium disilicate materials closely resemble natural teeth, and Dr. Stragier will spend extra time at no extra charge to make sure the color of your crown matches the surrounding teeth. No one will know your crown isn't natural!

Decayed or damaged teeth cause pain while you are chewing or speaking. The crown acts as a cap that covers the tooth, relieving that pain and protecting the tooth and surrounding teeth from further damage. Crowns can often prevent the need for tooth extraction.

All consultations at Balboa Dental Care in San Diego, CA, are free of charge. If you think you might require a dental crown, contact us today to schedule a consultation with Dr. Stragier. At this initial appointment, Dr. Stragier can determine if your damaged tooth needs a crown.

Tooth Preparation

If Dr. Stragier determines that you are a good candidate for crowns, the first step is the preparation of the damaged tooth. Damaged or decayed portions of the tooth will be removed, and the tooth will be reshaped to create a base for the crown.

Crown Preparation

The dentist will make an impression of your teeth that will be used to design your custom-made crown. The crowns at our San Diego practice are made of strong materials like zirconium (we can also use porcelain crowns if you prefer). The crown may take up to two weeks to be designed, and Dr. Stragier will use this time to ensure your crown blends in seamlessly with your natural teeth. In the meantime, a temporary crown may be placed.

Crown Placement

Once your new crown is prepared, you can return to our San Diego dental practice to have the crown attached to your tooth. If you had a temporary crown, it will be removed, and then your new crown will be secured to the tooth with dental cement.

There is no recovery time involved with a crown. You may experience mild sensitivity, but this should subside after a few days. Enjoy your improved bite and smile!

Dental Crown Applications

Dental Crowns and Cosmetic Dentistry

If you have a broken tooth that negatively affects the aesthetics of your smile, a dentist can attach a zirconium or porcelain crown to the broken tooth and help you smile with confidence.

Dental Crowns and Root Canals

If you have an infected tooth, a root canal may be required before a crown can be attached. After your dentist has performed the root canal, a crown can protect the tooth.

Dental Crowns and Dental Implants

If you are missing a tooth entirely, the best restoration option may be implant dentistry. Dr. Stragier can work with you to place a dental implant, and then he can attach a crown to the implant to restore the lost tooth.

Dental crown treatment with Dr. Stragier at Balboa Dental Care in San Diego, CA, typically costs between $1,200 and $2,000. Costs can vary based on the material used for the crown (porcelain or zirconium) and the severity of the tooth damage. Dr. Stragier regularly reviews the prices of other dentists in the area to ensure that his prices are competitive.

Balboa Dental Care works with most dental insurance providers and offers payment plans for major work, including plans with zero-percent financing for 12 months. We try our best to make sure that cost never stands between our patients and the dental treatments they need.
