Implant-Supported Dentures

Look & Feel Great with Implant-Supported Dentures

Although removable dentures are a good option for many patients, implant-supported dentures offer several advantages:

Stability

Traditional dentures are held in place by dental adhesive and suction, so they are bound to slip out of place and cause embarrassing moments. Implant-supported dentures are attached directly to your jaw, so they will always stay put.

Functionality

Conventional dentures make it difficult to eat tough foods like steak or apples. They can also affect your speech. However, implant-supported dentures function just like natural teeth, allowing you to eat your favorite foods and speak with confidence.

Longevity

Dr. Stragier uses the highest quality materials to create dentures that look great and last. To ensure the long-term success of your treatment, he also uses the latest techniques and materials when placing implants. In most cases, dental implants can last a lifetime.

I think I was one of his first patients and have remained one for over 20 years.  He is smart, gentle and seems always to have the patient's best interest in mind.   His loyal staff (they have remained the same for the past 20 years) are also very smart and caring.   I now have to travel a bit to see Dr. Stragier, but I would not go anywhere else.

My family and I have been patients since 2000.  I have nothing but good things to say about the friendliness and professionalism of both the staff and Dr. Stragier.  Dr. Stragier has made himself available after hours to take care of emergency dental issues.  A comfortable and stress free environment.

The Entire Treatment Spans Several Appointments

From your first consultation to your final fitting, the process of receiving implant-supported dentures can span anywhere from three to nine months. Your plan might vary slightly but you can expect several appointments at our San Diego, CA, dental office:

The process of receiving implant-supported dentures can span three to nine months.
The process of receiving implant-supported dentures can span three to nine months.

Attending Your Consultation

Every patient at our San Diego office will first undergo an extensive, one-on-one consultation with Dr. Stragier. During this time, Dr. Stragier will learn about your goals, talk to you about the procedure, and determine whether you are a good candidate for implant-supported dentures. If you are satisfied with your proposed dental treatment, we will schedule your initial procedure.

Placing the Implants

Dr. Stragier will begin by numbing the tissue at the surgery site. We also recommend sedation to keep you calm and comfortable during implant placement. During surgery, Dr. Stragier will create incisions in your gums, place the implants in the jaw, and suture the gums back into place. If you have experienced jawbone recession, our dentist may need to perform a bone graft or sinus lift prior to your implant surgery.

Healing from Implant Surgery

Over the next three to six months, your implants and jawbone will fuse together in a process called osseointegration. Proper osseointegration is essential to the long-term success of your dental implants. During this period, Dr. Stragier will provide temporary dentures so that you never have to go without teeth.

Placing the Abutments

Once your implants have fully fused with the jaw, you will receive your abutments. Abutments are small, anchor-like fixtures that will connect the dental implants to your dentures.

Preparing Your Dentures

Next, Dr. Stragier will use state-of-the-art dental technology, including our advanced CAD/CAM system, to scan your smile and create fully digital dental impressions. These 3-D models of your smile and other important information will be sent to a trusted lab. There, your dentures will be crafted using the strongest, non-metallic materials.

Receiving Your Permanent Dentures

During the next appointment, you will return to our San Diego office to try on your implant-supported dentures. We will ensure that the fit, feel, and look of your new restoration meets your expectations. In some cases, you may require additional visits. With proper care and regular check-ups with our dentist, implant-supported dentures can last years before they need to be replaced. However, your dental implants can last a lifetime.

How Much Do Implant-Supported Dentures Cost?

At Balboa Dental Care, dentures supported by dental implants typically cost around $25,000.00 per arch.

Although implant-supported dentures are more expensive than traditional dentures, you cannot put a price tag on the comfort, convenience, and aesthetics offered by implant dentures.

We understand the cost concerns of our San Diego patients, so you can cover out-of-pocket costs with a financing plan that fits your budget.

Dr. Stragier, Pam, Terry and the dental hygienists are the BEST I've ever been to.  Dr. Stragier's techniques are very gentle and he doesn't try to sell procedures you may not need. Even my (reluctant patient) husband has done very well there for many years.

Will My Dentures Look Natural?

Smiling woman

Many patients with missing teeth are resistant to treatment because they are afraid that dentures will make them look older than their actual age. But dentures have come a long way from the clunky, false teeth of the past.

Today, dentures are made with high-quality porcelain teeth. Unlike removable dentures, implant-supported dentures attach directly to the jawbone, so patients do not need to worry about their dentures slipping or smacking. If you are missing most or all of your teeth, implant-supported dentures are the most functional and natural-looking solution available.
